Better When He’s Bad
Welcome to the Point
There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.
Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.
Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.
Bax terrifies her, but it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize that some boys are just better when they’re bad.
“Do you want me to lie to you?”
I grabbed his hand and forced him to hold the towel so I could work on his face. I cleaned him off with a cotton ball soaked in peroxide, which had him swearing and scowling at me. I found the little butterfly Steri-strip I bought and slapped a couple on his cheek.
“Yeah. I think I do.” I couldn’t tell the difference when he lied to me anyway. He grunted and narrowed his eyes even farther at me when I slimed some antibacterial goo on his lower lip.
“then no. You wold be exactly like all the rest.”
I have been eyeballing this book, completely intrigued by the cover, but haven’t had the chance to pick it up yet. I do love me some good dialogue.

The author said she wanted to try writing an character that really was a bad boy and not just acting like one. Bax certainly fits the bill. Jay Crownover still makes you like him, she’s gifted. LOL.

I wouldn’t have liked him lying, but I could imagine it was easier to pretend that it would be better

When she told him to lie she expected him to say “No, you’re different from all the other girls.” Instead he told she wasn’t special at all, which meant he really did think she was. Kind of confusing but he was actually being sweet and baring his soul a little.

Confusing logic but based on that little piece, I expected what he said.

Ooo I was just hearing about this one. I think so at least. The heroes have some interesting piercings?! Or maybe that was a different series. I know I have this one on my tbr for though.

Her Marked Men series has some Anna approved piercings. This one doesn’t, so far. *sad face*
