Attack of the 14 Nights of Halloween Giveaway

I love Halloween. The paranormal romance genre is like celebrating Halloween all year long. Here are my top seven favorite paranormal couples

Fearghus the Destroyer and Annwyl the Bloody

Dragon Actually  by GA Aiken
“And Annwyl. Remember what I told you.”
“Protect my right side?”
“No.”
“Feint with my left?”
“No.”
“Nice ass?”
“No!” His growl of annoyance only elicited a sweet chuckle from his woman.
“Watch my rage, heart of my heart?”
“Condescending cow.”

Dragos Cuelebre and Pia Giovanni

Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison
“A dragon just gave me a piece of jewelry,” she said. She took another swig and handed the bottle back to Graydon. “Have I been added to his hoard?”
He shook his head and drank too. “No, cupcake,” he said. “I’m pretty sure you’ve replaced it.”

Jacques Dubrinsky and Shea O’Halloran

Dark Desire by Christine Feehan
Shea blinked back tears, found his wrist with trembling fingers, the lightest contact, a connection between them. “We make such a perfect pair, Jacques. At least one of us should be stable, don’t you think?”
He brought her hand to the warmth of his mouth. “You came for me, from thousands of miles away. You came for me.”

Tor and Cora

Fantastical by Kristen Ashley
“after these last weeks, I know I will allow nothing to keep you from me. I will not go down fighting. I will stay standing until I taste victory.”

Wrath and Beth

Dark Lover by J.R. Ward
“Man, he wasn’t going to need a stress test anytime soon. If his heart could get through a kiss from her, he could probably run a marathon. While dragging a car behind him. Sideways to the road.”

Cian MacKeltar and Jessie St. James

Spell of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning
“Aye, Jessica, I like you. And I’m not just stuck with you. You fit me here, woman.” He thumped his chest with his fist.”

Bones and Cat

Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost
“I’m saying that I’m a moody, insecure, narrow-minded, jealous, borderline homicidal bitch, and I want you to promise me that you’re okay with that, because it’s who I am, and you’re what I need.”

I don’t get the hype. Please don’t kill me.

You can’t please everyone. It’s a global truth. When something comes along that every person on the planet seems to like but you, suddenly you find yourself on the outside of the trend. When it happens to me ask myself, “What am I missing? What don’t I get that everyone else does?”

I asked my readers to give me an example of a book or movie they didn’t understand the draw of. The most popular were…

  • Fifty Shades of Grey (book and movie)
  • Game of Thrones (book and movie)
  • The Walking Dead
  • Outlander

Walking Dead and I are very close. I’m a horror fan but it is the character development over the seasons I’m invested in. In the event of a zombie apocalypse, I’m looking for a Daryl.

Game of Thrones. #TeamDany all the way. I enjoy several story lines in the series but I won’t lie. They could rename it Mother of Dragons and have nothing but Emilia Clarke’s character and I’d be stoked.

I am 50/50 on Fifty Shades of Grey. Outlander I get in theory. The story sounds great when others talk about it. I’ve tried to read it several times and watched the first season of the show. Beautiful story of enduring love but so painful. My heart doesn’t like tragic love. I will dwell on it fo’eva.

My name is Bridget Blackwood and I am a Outlander quitter.

Sorry Jaime.

It has been almost a year since mankind became aware of the world in shadows. Where peace prevails, prejudice still lurks among the masses. Madalaina Bonvillian believed nothing could harm her; she’s the daughter of the former alpha and the sister of the current one. She counted on her status to keep her safe. Little did she know how naive she was. After surviving a brutal attack, Madalaina must try to move forward, but where do you go when you feel like you’ve lost yourself?

Cleary Neil has kept his feelings for Madalaina to himself. He’s been nothing more than a friend to her, and now that’s what she needs more than anything. The only problem is he can’t shut off the part of himself that wants to protect his mate from the pain and confusion he sees in her.

Together they will go on an emotional journey to find out if love can heal all wounds. Time is of the essence, because enemies are gathering.

Things about me

  • A good portion of my vocabulary is movie and song references.I will love you if you feed me.
  • Most humiliating experience was when I was between seven and nine years old. The teenage boy who lived next door spit a mouthful of soda in my face. He and his friends thought it was hilarious.
  • I cannot hula hoop. Tried over and over through out my life and the hoop has never hula’d for me. It’s my 2016

  • What my last text message says “Perscription XXX348 is ready at Target Pharmacy #XXV”
  • Favorite video game series is Dragon Age. I ship Alistair, Fenris, and Cullen.

  • I would consider to my most valuable possession to be my wedding ring. It is the only possession I own with heaps of sentimental value attached to it.
  • One of my insecurities is related to my acne. I have dealt with it since pre-puberty and will likely have it up until I die. Scarring sucks but the painful, easy to spot at 500 yards newbies are the worst. I’ve gotten good at makeup to hide them.
  • Jareth and Sara is my favorite OTP!

Best books I read in 2015!

Printable-Happy-New-Year-Banner-55-5-465x394

2015 was a pretty good year. I turned thirty-one in April two weeks after my middle child had her seventh birthday. My youngest became three in July. Mr. B and the oldest kid had November birthdays, they turned thirty-six and ten. I signed with the publisher Booktrope, visited family in Texas twice, attended my first book convention, and hosted friends/family in my home several times.

Looking back I can’t pick out many complaints for the year 2015. Now, let’s get to the books in review!

2016 Goals

My goals for 2016 revolve heavily around my health and mental well-being. I think if I can do better with those then every other part of my life will benefit. Productivity and happiness should increase by a lot.

  1. Go to bed before midnight a minimum of four out of seven nights a week.
  2. Get up with Mr. B on work days. I get a lot more accomplished on those days.
  3. Keep up drinking water, stay with the decaf coffee, and enjoy more herbal tea.
  4. Exercise a minimum of four out of seven times a week.
  5. Eat less junk
  6. Learn to hula hoop.

Polar Vampires? Snow Fae? WereOrca?

Question: What is like like for your therians/vampires/fae who live in the north pole?

Short Answer: It snows a lot.

Not short answer: Therians are the easiest to answer for. I’d imagine the ones who chose to live there are suited to the climate. You’d find Therians who could shift into polar bears, arctic wolves, arctic fox, arctic and snowshoe hare, caribou, moose, several variety of seal, walrus, and sea otter.

Top 4 Polar Therians I would want to see.

Wolverine, Ribbon Seal, Ermine, and Orca via Cool Antarctica

In folklore and legends you have creatures found in the coldest places. Trying to do research on the North Pole specifically pulled up a ton of pages but they were all on Santa Claus. Hey, maybe he’s a Fae?

My vampires wouldn’t be any different than anyone else, from an outward appearance. They blend in well. So long as one of them didn’t go eating the population of humans you might never know you had vampires ;0)

Gearing up for Christmas 2015

This is my second year of purchasing the bulk of presents online. I live in a bigger city right outside of an even bigger city. To say the shopping around here gets intense is a huge understatement. The week of Thanksgiving you can feel it in the air. The insanity fog. The mall is packed, every parking spot is filled. The same is true of Wal-mart, Target, any place you can buy a gift or food (because shopping makes you hungry, duh.) I avoid the masses to the point of having only peanut butter and saltines in the pantry before I wade into the fray. People are crazy this time of year.

stupid

Everyone needs to listen to Granny Klump

Yes, I am slightly over exaggerating.

Mr. B hates crowds and he hates shopping for anything not “fun”. If Christmas shopping wasn’t stressful enough once I toss him in the mix with the crowds, it is an uphill climb with an anvil to retain my sanity.

crowds.jpg

I identify with the Grinch. I probably have a little Max thrown in, if I’m being honest. I love Christmas and feel my heart is a good size, but the joy of shopping? I missed that one. Can’t have ’em all, I guess.

ginch

Another crowd I am avoiding is STAR WARS.

I’ll be buying tickets to see it on an off day at an odd time from a small local theater. They have recliners with ample space between them so even a sold out show is roomy.

If I was a Jedi I really hope I could pull this look off. Make your own at Azalea Dolls

Protection from Facebook Creepers

7ff1dbbadd0e0f576cc59f4b463c3ca3

If you have a creeper problem or just want to take an extra step to protect your facebook, here’s a handy trick you might not know.

When you receive a friend request take a minute to see if they are who they say they are. It doesn’t matter if you have one or a hundred friends in common, you should still check them out because we all fall for it. images

1) Open their profile. I’m using my own to demonstrate

2) Right click on the profile picture.

3) Select ‘search google for this image’.

step2

I can see the profile picture for Bridget Blackwood pop up from several places. How can you differentiate between places I have been and a person claiming to be me? Easy!

step3

Left click on the picture, not the link but the actual picture of the person you are looking into. It will then come up with something looking like this below. You can see it says I was on Astrid V. Tallaksen’s wordpress and what was I doing there? The very last words on the right hand side before the visit page/view image buttons says Recent Comments. I was there commenting on a post. If you had chosen to pull up one of the deviant art links instead of Astrid’s it says watcher, because I selected to keep an eye on those artist’s work.

step4

What you are trying to avoid is google image results where I have a different name each time. I was friended an hour ago by a man and there were seven other full profiles of him, each with a different name/location/job.

It doesn’t take a lot of time and saves you a headache. I’ve been tagged twice now in some very, very graphic pornography because I didn’t take the sixty seconds to run the image search on a new “friend”.

No one comes with a sign to tell you they are up to no good. They don’t care about upsetting you. The benign ones just want a second to spam your FB with whatever they are selling. Annoying but not really harmful. Then you have the people who are a little to interested in you for who knows why. Avoid them all and become a Creeper Hunter! You have the tools.
